The quality of foods these days
By Jon Wim
The best foods are always those that help build your body up and provide what it needs. Ever heard the saying, you are what you eat? Yet, the majority of humans are eating substandard food today, and why is that so? Our foods have all been processed heavily and tons of additives are added into the mix. Fast food is one of them, although it is not the worst out there. The worst foods are those that reuse cooking oil and are deficient in nutrients to such an extent that what you’re eating are simply, empty calories. This major drop in food quality is one reason why there is now an “epidemic” of health ailments like diabetes, heart disease and cancer; the quality of food nowadays is appalling. Poor farming techniques and even worse still, GMO foods have done their bit to ensure that virtually all the goodness is stripped away from food. The topsoil of many countries have been insidiously washed out by rains and erosion to remove whatever minerals are there, and pesticide use has probably canceled out whatever inherent goodness was originally in the foods themselves. Probably the only food that is untainted is genuine organic food. But this brings up a problem with organic food – It is way too expensive for the majority of humans to afford. This is the major problem with organic food – It is only the purview of the rich or well-to-do. Unless and until our current system undergoes a massive overhaul, there is no way people are going to be eating good food, the way it was meant to be. And I’ll leave you with this thought - If everyone was well and healthy, what do you think would happen to drug and pharmaceutical companies who make their money off our sicknesses?
